Ranikot is two of the most beautiful hill stations of Bhaktapur. It is an impressive destination for family tours, adventure activities, and hiking. There are many routes to hike to this place. Some of these are Suryabinayak-Ranikot-Aashapuri, Suryabinayak-Ranikot-Phulchoki and Suryabinayak-Ranikot-Lankuri Bhanjyang, making Ranikot the midpoint. Also, from here, one can enjoy the surreal view of the Langtang mountain range and the Kathmandu valley.
Apart from natural beauty, Ranikot carries great religious and historical significance. It is said that there used to be a palace in Ranikot at some time in the past. However, it has not been confirmed yet. As per senior citizens of this place, royals, especially kings, used to come here and rest.
There are also plenty of other destinations, mainly religious places, on the way to Ranikot, such as the Suryabinayak temple, Doleshwar Mahadev temple, which is also considered as the head of Kedarnath, one of the four dhams of Hindus. Likewise, there is also an idol of Bagh Bhairav in Ranikot. There, fairs are held on the full moon day of Baisakh and Mangsir every year.
This place is also suitable for bird watching as it is surrounded by dense forests. Rare birds such as spiny babbler are now found in the area. Therefore, the Panauti municipality has declared this area as a bird conservation zone recently.
Kakani hill station is situated 29km/25miles north west of Kathmandu city at the elevation of 1,982 m above sea level. Kakani is famous for the magnificent view of the valley as well as the high mountain peaks like Ganesh Himal, Gaurishanker, Manaslu, Himalchuli and several others. Kakani is also well known for cycling and biking adventure. It is also one of the most popular spot for picnic.
Bosan Danda (White House) is a lesser-known gem of a viewpoint in the Kathmandu Valley that lies on the southern outskirts of Kathmandu. It is one of the perfect destinations for day hike. If the weather is clear, you will have the pleasure of encountering stunning views of mountain ranges—Gauri Shankar, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and with luck, you will spot the Annapurna mountains when there are no clouds—as you visit Bosan Danda.
Dhulikhel is a well-preserved Newari town that offers magicle view of the mountains and amazing landscapes. It is a perfect place for soft hiking and biking experiences. Dhulikhel is in the east side of Kathmandu valley only 32 km far and it is a popular spot for locals on weekends. Kali Temple, Bhagwati Temple, Gosainthan hill, Shiva temple and Dhulikhel View Tower are some of the most visit attractions when you are in Dhulikhel. If you are looking for a perceful emvironment, it is a perfect place for relaxation as well. Other fun activities like bird or butterfly watching can also be done in Dhulikhel.
