The Langtang and Helambu Region lies just north of Kathmandu and treks here not particularly demanding – being relatively low altitude and short (a week to 16 days) – yet very rewarding. The Snow-capped Langtang mountains, visible from Kathmandu on a clear day, are part of the Great Himalayan chain; they hem in a valley that is amazingly scenic. Helambu comprises high wooded foothills dotted with beautiful village that boast impressive Buddhist monasteries and glacial moraines.
