Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal Trek is the only trek in Nepal that brings you up above 4000 meters within the shortest span of time. This is a journey into the Annapurna Sanctuary Area and is gaining real momentum of fame. The Mardi Himal trek is not that famous as it has been outshone by the likes of the Annapurna Circuit Trek and the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, but the scenery of Mardi Himal (5,587m), snow-capped peaks of Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Machhapuchre (6,997m), Gangapurna Himal (7,454m) make the trek worth every penny spent.

This trekking over Mardi Himal will drive you along serpentine roads through complete rhododendron forests. As you proceed to higher altitude, the high mountains are seen with a superb view of Machhapuchhare, popularly known as Fishtail. The forests you trek through usually have several types of trees, bamboo, and chirping plants. This Mardi Base Camp Trek is the best way of avoiding crowds. It gives an opportunity to spot various wild animals during this journey through the forests, like Himalayan Thar, long-tailed langurs, and birds like Danphe, Kalij, and Monal.

This short trek has been made even easier by the rising numbers of tea houses offering a range of lunch and dinner options, as well as providing lodging. Mardi Himal Trekking has remained a virgin section and it embraces a trekking route which combines stunning mountain views, encounters with wild animals in dense woods, and crossing over rivers and hills-all in one trek. Pave the way up the narrow, winding roads through the jungle until you come out of it and see the great vistas of the Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchre from the Badal Danda.

The Mardi Himal Trek Itinerary starts off from Kathmandu, where you can take a glimpse of the city's most vital world heritage site, before flying to Pokhara. Kande, where your major trekking experience will start, lies just a short drive from Pokhara. You will go uphill from Kande to Australian Camp, then Pothana, to reach Pitam Durali, where overnight stay will be provided. The next day, your Mardi Trek Journey will start from Pitam Durali towards Low Camp, heading via Forest Camp, and Rest Camp. You will have an overnight stay at Low Camp. The next day, you will reach High Camp. You will descend to Siding from Mardi Himal Base Camp after you start your morning from the High Camp. You will then drive to Pokhara on a shared jeep from Siding, and that would be the end of your Mardi Himal Trek in the Annapurna Region. You'll also get an opportunity to boat on Phewa Lake and explore awesome places in Pokhara. This is followed by the end of your great Mardi Himal trekking with a ride of a tourist bus back to Kathmandu.
